You are probably aware Travis County Parks has published their 10 year Master Plan and had held public meetings.

Public comment has been extended until May 1

Travis County Web Site

I have been told that Travis County has NOT heard from the Climbers , It's obvious we are happy with how things are going.

BUT....Gerald Daughtery, the Commissioner of Precent 3 is under pressure to locate and develop intramural fields. Which is not a bad thing for a growing community... but with no input from climbers , the Commissioners may hear loudly from a minority and react to that.

I am asking that you send an email to:

Please state :

1. How important the current access to Reimers Ranch is to you.
2. How additional parkland for similar access is needed considering the growth in our sport and community.

And please share this with other climbers.

Good news!

I've been told that our collective voices have been heard and will make a difference.

Excellent response from everyone!

Thank you!

So, I can't determine whether this would be considered a banned topic in the FB Austin Climbing Group per the latest iteration of don't post about your causes only climbing schedules, but I know y'all will appreciate it and hope you can spread the word. Travis County Commissioners sent out an e-mail about public outreach meetings and updated their working project plan a few weeks ago. I hope we can get some Austin climbers to go in person to these meetings and talk to Travis County about what is important. There are some big items regarding Reimers on there (re: camping etc). Here's the e-mail:

2017 CBAC Public Outreach Meetings
The Travis County Commissioners Court is inviting residents
to attend a series of public outreach meetings to learn more about the Committee’s proposed 2017 Travis County
list of bond projects and provide comments for the
Commissioners Court to consider. Information about the
likely fiscal impacts of such a bond package will be presented
at these meetings, as well.

The proposed projects include County road capacity and safety projects, road reconstruction, pedestrian/bicycle facility improvements, bridge replacements, flood control projects, county park improvements, and acquisition of parkland
and conservation easements.

All public meetings are open to the public and will begin with a 15-minute Open House format, followed by a brief
presentation about the Committee’s charge and process.
Oral comments about the Committee’s work will be taken
for the public record by Committee members
following the presentation.
Written comments can also be made anytime
during any meeting or online at the website below.
The public is encouraged to arrive whenever you can
within an approximate 2 hour meeting window.

The public meetings will be held at the following
locations and times:

Travis County Precinct 1:
